Man United sign Nick Powell from Crewe

Who exactly is Nick Powell? Exactly my sentiments. Nick Powell, 18, is an attacking midfielder who plies his trade with Crewe Alaxandra in League One. He has played at the the U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels for England, reaching the semi final of the U-17 European Championships.

According to Sir Alex Ferguson, United had been scouting Nick for months and have finally signed him for an undisclosed fee though BBC Radio Stoke reported “an initial fee of £3m will be paid, with the deal potentially rising to £6m depending on his success and appearances”. At the end of the 2011–12 season, Powell finished as the Crewe’s top scorer with a total of 16 goals in all competitions.

With Kagawa and Powell already signed and Lewandowski looking more and more likely to be heading to the red side of Manchester, it looks like United are stepping it up in the transfer market to wrest back the title from Manchester City. They may be doing the shrewdest business out of all the top sides as they are not breaking the bank in the transfer market, but are still getting top notch players.
